The curatorial essence of our 2024 exhibition schedule is one of Collective ALCHEMY.
When most people think of ALCHEMY, they think of the legendary quest to create gold or the ultimate “healing elixir”. But taken metaphorically, the processes of alchemy can be applied to basically anything that nudges you along on your own personal journey.
Alchemical art sees things in a new light, using things in a way that
hasn’t been done before to CREATE something new, exciting, magical and innovative.

Sacred art contributes to keeping us mindful of God’s abiding presence. The annual Seeing God Juried Exhibit features contemporary artists who work in that spirit.
Over the centuries, Benedictines have encouraged women and men who use color, form, sound, and word to express the beauty one experiences in the encounter with God’s own creativity. Their work contributes to keeping us mindful of God’s abiding presence. The Seeing God Juried Exhibit features contemporary artists who work in that spirit.

The fine arts department of the Minnesota State Fair presents an annual exhibition that is the result of a juried competition. Participation is open to all living residents of Minnesota, and each may submit one work for consideration. But! Only the works selected by the jurors are displayed in the Fine Arts Center during the exhibition.
In 2022, a total of 2,227 pieces were submitted and only 338 were accepted.
Like the Salon des Refusés of 1863 in Paris, the Argyle Zebra Gallery invites the ‘rejects’ of the Minnesota State Fair fine arts exhibition to display their rejected submission and put the authority of judgement back in the hands of their community.

But Trailing Clouds of Glory Do We Come at Susan Hensel Gallery on Artsy
But Trailing Clouds of Glory Do We Come, was born of a convergence of three things – a memory of an experience, stones collected on the shores of Lake Superior, and a re-reading of Ode on Intimations of Immortality from Recollections of Early Childhood by William Wordsworth.
