Finally Finished

Every now and then, a piece fights me.

This is such a one.

I have painted, painted over, painted over again, scraped off, started over, again and again and again. It's finally finished, and in the end, it's not so different from many of the other versions of itself - except that it contains the marks and the scars and each moment of the struggle in the nuances and textures of its finally settled self.
